Hey folks, welcome to the new whine/general topic thread. Feel free to use this thread to discuss anything that is on your mind. Caregiving- related stuff, life after a loved one's death, your own emotional wellbeing. Whatever..........anything on your mind.
A while back, a woman who went to a chiropractor for a neck manipulation for a pinched nerve on her neck. She came home in a lot of pain. She suffered a stroke and she died. It seems when the chiropractor shifted her neck, it tore her left vertebral artery. Maybe having a massage is safer?
Blood flow and cause a stroke
Even with traction during PT following a car accident I would get a pain in my hip from manipulation of my neck
Chiropractor massage is good but I don't want anything cracked for fear of breaking a bone or worse
And I don't eat sushi either.
A man had a 5' tapeworm come out, he ate sushi daily, but not sure that is the kind of worm fish have, mostly in the summer. About 3 weeks ago, I think it was reported.
Golden,
I have heard that one can have a stroke being placed in the neck insert in the
sink when getting your hair washed at the hairdresser.
Also, a chiropractic adjustment can cause a stroke.
A broken neck is also very scary.
Because of these reports, I had asked my chiropractor about a stroke.
Deciding the alternative was worse: Complete bedridden immobility, causing blood clots, unable to walk or sleep without acute pain, and the necessity to take many pain meds that had adverse effects, etc.
I opted for the risks of chiropractic for myself.
I do not eat Sushi.
Hubs does not have a ganglion, but a serious joint disorder after his accident a year ago from falling off his bike. Plus arthritis.
Did you get your Sunday sushi?
And I am proud to say I am not on any meds either. Knock on wood.
You didn't dump the bucket of epsom salt on hub's head ?
Now that would be bratty
I'm so sorry to hear about your husband's hand. I hope he feels better soon.
Hi cwillie,
I'm with you. I'm glad you didn't need any meds at 40. I think that's all some doctors know how to do is push meds.
When I told him what the surgeon (I had worked for) did for ganglion cysts, this doc was not impressed, said they come back.
The joint is inflamed, and after waiting too long to see the orthopedic specialist after his bike accident a year ago, (PCP refused to refer) the damage was done. Appears like bone on bone.
He also has arthritic changes to his spine.
He has not explained until now, how much he has been hurting himself with certain activities, and is off work for two weeks.
Great when things just disappear without surgery? A bone spur on my heel disappeared, once had TMJ pain in the jaw, gone! Right hip pain gone.
Back when I was only 40 I went in for my physical and was assigned a brand new doctor (our clinic trained residents). He told me he had never before encountered anyone my age who wasn't on some form of medication. Say what?
Understandably, part of training to be a doctor is to see sick people, where so many docs get into trouble when they assume what they see in a clinical practice has any bearing on what is actually happening in the world.
It will be just like, the doctor says in a much too much enthusiastic story:
"Have you ever seen a bone lump sticking out in the thumb joint of mostly women?
If you go to the market, look around and I am sure you will find a 70 year old woman or several with arthritis in that joint."
So I said, "Gee hubs, let's go shopping!"
However the specialist is an excellent doctor, but young, and no offense to 70 year olds.

The hot/cold is for pain and swelling MsMadge. He needs that too.
But the soak was for infection, as salt absorbs, heals infection, or something like that.
I hope. Then, applied tea tree oil, a natural disinfectant.
Watch this....one wonders why I give up on posting?
TYPE IN B S G.....this is what you get, really!

I cannot change it or correct it, it changes right back! That is why I have started spacing between letters to correct the predictive technology.
Going to STOP abbreviation altogether!

If his hand is still soaking at least he's alternating hot and cold
It might be easier to just get him a microwaveable boo boo pack and put on his hand
You can get them at cvs or rite aid
Had to take the water to his chair, and did put his hand in!
An hour later, I bet it is still in there, looking like a prune!
Going to check.
it must be pretty painful too. Maybe a Fentynal lollipop would make him more ameniable. (One for you too)
Told him, but he has not done it.
Maybe I should feed him some LOLLIPOPS!
As for me, I only deserve to have a large sucker, because I must be one. Sad.
Meant to say K e f l e x. 2000 mg. per day.
Last year's injury from bike ride has become a chronic issue now, complicated by hubs bad behaviors. Takes my time away from progressing on cleanup, paperwork, etc.
He no longer does even the most basic chores lately. Something must change.
Lollipops!
Did he stick his hand in the shredder or biking incident?
Did dr suggest warm compress?
