So we didn't go to lunch yesterday because I was feeling terrible....dizzy and pain in my right side. Chuck made rib eyes on the grill last night so we had a great dinner and an all around lovely anniversary.

He'll be gone from morning till 8 or 9pm today thru Sun putting on a Scottish festival in Estes Park. I'm fine with that as my startle reflex is thru the roof lately for some reason. Being alone just Honey and I insures a quiet house since she's not a barker 😁

Lea,

Sorry that you had a bad day yesterday and couldn’t go out. The steaks sound like a delicious alternative!

Estes Park is beautiful! Sounds like a fun time for Chuck and a quiet day for you and Honey.

What’s the latest news on the wedding? Is your daughter excited or a bundle of nerves, or a combination?

Weddings are beautiful but the planning can become a bit stressful.

LL, glad you were able to enjoy a nice anniversary steak dinner w/Chuck despite the sucky dizziness and pain. Enjoy your day of peace and quiet! (((hug)))

So Chuck put up his tents at the Scottish festival Thurs thru Sunday last week ( in spite of me asking him not to for fear of him getting sick) and came home quite sick with a nasty cold and cough. Sigh. Being immuno-compromised and on anti rejection drugs for his liver transplant, we're not sure which cold meds he can or cannot take. He has a call into the Mayo Clinic and is waiting for a call back. Then I can place an order at Wal Mart for delivery. He has no fever and the covid test is negative. I'm also steering clear of him bc the last thing I need is a bad cold on top of all the rest of my issues.

Lea, so sorry Chuck is ill. Hopefully he will bounce back with some rest and proper meds.
I think most of us have denial of health issues when we are feeling well.
So I suppose good that he felt up to it and sorry he didn’t get away with it.
Life is a fine balance.
Hugs to you both.

Lea, I, highly, recommend that you find out if both of you can take zinc 50 mg and 10,000 mg of Vitamin C daily for a week.

I don't know if you believe supplements help or not but, this really works amazingly well for colds or other types of viruses that act like colds.

The vitamin C will flush your system and it is a good thing that helps your body flush out the bugs.

I hope Chuck feels better soon and you don't share.

ITRR, I have been taking C along with zinc, D and several other supplements since covid broke out in 2020 and haven't had it or any other illness since. Plus, my immune system is SO RAMPED up from the immunotherapy I'd be surprised if I caught anything at this point 😂🤣

Chuck is better today, thank God. He cannot take anything much for symptoms (per Mayo) but Robitussin, saline nose spray, Flonase or Tylenol. I'm ok....avoiding him and the cold too! Something is going around here.....DDs fiance has the same cough and cold symptoms too. They're on their way to FL now, driving, with her dingo dog in the car! It was going to cost them $700 to board the dog for 2 weeks, thus this decision was made. Meanwhile, before they got out of CO, they had to give the dog a Benadryl to calm her down. God help them 😂🤣😃

Well, I cooked dinner 2 nights in a row while Chuck was sick! I made a meatloaf, baked potatoes and peas one night and heated up Italian Wedding Soup the other night. So I made dinner ONE night, technically......the stepson made it the other night, I just thawed and microwaved. But I got bowls out and set the table 😁🤣😂😃. Ha!

My shower yesterday was not horrendous. I even put my leg up on the built in shower seat while holding onto my walker....a miracle!

I cancelled the next IVIG infusion for 9/29......I'm done battling extreme dizziness for 10 days post infusion intended to help me. I will still see Dr C that day though.

My eyes are still bothering me.....still itchy crusty and red, so I'll see the Opthamologist again next Weds. I have a feeling this Iritis will be chronic until and unless this toxic reaction clears up.

DD and her fiance made it 2010 miles driving to FL with their dingo dog in the backseat. 26 hours of driving, phew. Her hair is in a fro since it's 90 degrees and 60% humidity. Ha!

Chuck is all better from his cold, thankfully. He lost his entire stomach from a few days of light eating. 🙄 Men. Can't live with them, can't shoot them.

ITRR, I forgot to mention, Chuck is allowed to take NO supplements or vitamins of ANY KIND. His immune system is to stay in a compromised condition so there's less chance of the new liver rejecting.

Lea,

Defrosting and heating up counts as cooking dinner! LOL 😆. Hey, as long as there is food on the table it counts.

My sweet MIL would tell me that I was killing myself working all day and cooking dinner every night. She taught me to cook once and freeze a meal for later on.

She also taught her sons how to cook. My husband is a good cook! She felt that husbands should spend time in the kitchen too. Her MIL spoiled her husband and son, so her husband couldn’t do a thing for himself. She said that it took her awhile to deprogram him!

Lea, you stole my line. Except I say, Men, can't live with them, can't push them off a bridge. Hey, shooting works too.

I've been sick and lost 7 pounds. Sad that's the only way weight comes off easily.

Anyway, still always praying for you Lea!

LL, nice news about being able to make dinner and get that leg up on the shower seat! I've made DD's trip in reverse: from south FL to MN all by myself when I was 20. Moved here to be with my boyfriend (now hubs). The heat and humidity there these past 2 years has been beyond hellish. I have stick-straight hair so the opposite of DD's: can't bother putting a curl in it, it wouldn't stay for even a minute.

If you peeled open a can, warmed it, set the table, etc — then you made dinner in my book! Glad that Chuck is on the mend and can resume cooking duty.

From The Red Green Show, about men: "If the women don't find you handsome they should at least find you handy."

Girl,
Congratulations on your culinary skills that have come back to you! Yipppeee!

And, the one-leg up thing! Soooo happy to read that!

My poker-straight hair even frizzes down here in FL! It’s crazypants! I am heading to Buffalo for 5 days in October. I. Cannot. Wait. I haven’t seen Autumn in 8 years!

Hugs to you!

Just plugging along over here. Nothing is better or worse, just the same. Tomorrow I go back to the Opthamologist bc my eyes are still bothering me a lot. I did cancel my IVIG for the 29th but will still see Dr C that day.

We saw my grandson on Sunday (2.5 yrs old) and that was fun. My son brought me some rocks and crystals from the Gem and Mineral show they went to, and that was nice. The amethyst sitting on my window ledge catches light so beautifully.

Hi LL! Thanks for the check-in. Glad nothing is "worse". My granddaughter is a little over 2.5 yrs old... such a fun age. My son (her Dad) shamelessly regales me with cutesy videos at least once a day.

I love looking at polished rocks and gemstones, too. Amethyst geodes are so beautiful (and huge)... it's my birthstone so maybe I'm partial ;-) I never get tired of admiring them and pondering how such beautiful things are hidden inside ugly exteriors.

Yw Ty. What you're going thru is very difficult I know. Sending you hugs and hope for more peaceful days ahead. Remember my mantra, ask yourself "What is wrong at this very moment?" to talk yourself down. If mom is breathing that morning, nothing is wrong at that very moment.

I went back to the Opthamologist today & the Iritis inflammation in my eyes is still going on. He gave me 2 prescriptions, one for more steroid eye drops to use for 4 to 6 weeks this time and some antibiotic ointment for the troublesome lids. 😑

Geaton, you are right about the amethyst rocks and how crazy it is such beautiful things are hidden inside ugly exteriors. 😁
