Is there a name for a professional 'Transition Assistant'? What is the professional title for a person who helps an elder to organize a move into assisted living? How might I find such a person in central Florida?

I downsized my Mom after the fact. We kept her busy in another part of the house while her bed, dresser, chair and TV were moved out. Like living in an apartment, she needed her bedding, towels and personal items. The AL supplies nothing. I took clothing. After I got her settled in, I started cleaning out her house. Mom had Dementia so she never would be going back to her house. I would not give a stranger the responsibility of what should be kept and what should't. And when you do this, you need to just do it.

An Aging Life Care Manager (ALCM) (formerly known as a geriatric care manager) is a certified health and human services professional who guides older adults and their families through long-term care challenges.

Try searching for a Senior Care Manager or Downsizing Expert.

Try searching for “downsizing,” “senior solutions” or “elder transitions consulting.” If you or the person you are helping are moving to a 55+ community or assisted living facility, the people there should be able to provide some recommendations.
