Find Care & Housing

Spilled my coffee on the bed, so Sunday was laundry for sheets and mattress cover, and, the comforter is still in the bathtub. Maybe I will be requiring a housekeeper or caregiver soon.

Send: How awesome that the 360 cup has child-like symbols on it! Essentially the elder has reverted to childhood as it is anyway! That's not meant to be some mean dig; it's just the facts as they stand.

Going back for another miracle. Getting one with handles like Mulata has. Her's has Miss Kitty. I will look for one with a real kitten or puppy on it, and hang it on the headboard. Things fall off my nightstand regularly.

Me too, Phoenix, thanking you again. The 360 is a miracle!
However, this just in: Do not carry the cup in your purse! Did not just leak-it somehow emptied 3/4 cup water inside purse. I could have done something wrong-after just washing it? Anyhow, just happy to have my night water safe.

PhoenixDaughter, I have become a member of the 360-cup club. I was so tired of waking to water on my gown and bed from taking meds or just wanting a drink of water during the night! I found the cups in all sizes on Amazon. I chose the package of two, 10 oz. cups. I love them! They are made in different sizes and styles to grow with a baby. When I opened the package, my hubby did look a bit confused since it's only the dog and us here. :-) You have helped people of all ages and reasons for wanting to be able to drink without dribbling! Thank you!

There is an online store (specifically for autistic and people with sensory processing disorders) named "Chewigum." They have a "LiteCup" for $16.95 that is perfect. I got two for my grandkids to keep on their nightstand. They have a nightlight in the bottom to help see it at night. And I don't know how, but they devised a perfect way to drink easily from the cup and it is totally no-spill. My daughter has verified this with me. chewigemusa

I have a great idea. One time recently I was in the ER and had dry mouth. They gave me an oversized q-tip that was soaked with lemon. It's great because you can suck on it.

I just saw something that will help you, it's a lid that covers the top of a glass, with a hole for a straw. The lid appears to made of some kind of rubber or silicone. It's called SafeSip.

There is a sports bottle out there that requires you to bite/bare down on the "straw" ...not sure how hard you would have to bite and suck though

There is a "Kennedy Cup" that uses a straw and does not spill if tipped over. Be sure not to overfill it.

I found this website that rates and reviews many sippy cups on the market. Perhaps one will work for you? babygearlab

You might try a hydration pack used for outdoor activities, such as Camelbak or Platypus. You wouldn't need the whole backpack, just the reservoir with tube. Some of the tubes have just bite valve on the end. You pinch it between your teeth to open it. If the reservoir was hung on a bedpost, it may be gravity fed with little suction, although I'm not sure about that. Recommend you go to a sporting goods store and talk to them about the need. Some of the tubes have a bite valve and an inline valve, which has to be manually turned. That one wouldn't work for your mom.

The 360 cup may work well for someone without teeth.
This is because you are not supposed to chew on the rim, but instead of sucking, a gentle chewing motion, or lips moving can release the water.

This concludes my review of the cup, I give it five stars-get your own! Lol.
Mine was 5.99.

Cwllie, Not too hard to learn, but some posters have noted the possibility of not being able to suck. This cup-just put your mouth over the inside of the lip, either suck or gently move your lips, and the water comes out slowly, so as not to choke a person. Much easier than a straw. You can turn it upside down.
Veronica-
Ok, I don't NEED a sippy cup, but scooting over, reaching the nightstand became painful after breaking my collarbone last year-my upper arm is very painful.
Ths cup solves my preference to have my water covered.

I handed the cup to my hubby-he drinks without putting his mouth on anything-he pours it into his mouth-so this was funny to watch-it does not pour, or leak!

I just saw those cups in our local department store (Boscov's). They have a large "As seen on tv" section. The cups were only $9.99.
Also, I don't know if any of you have considered buying "My pillow" that they advertise on tv & radio. I looked into it, but they want $99.00 for them. The dept store had them also for $59.99!

Send, was it easy to figure out how to use it? The reviews said that some kids couldn't figure it out... I winder if it would be hard for someone with dementia??

Report

Yes! It works, so well you have to learn to drink from it! Nothing pours out, nothing spills. Your lips can push on the inside rim, a gentle suction, then drink.
I got the 10 oz. but someone with dementia and arthritis can use the handled mug.

The best thing is one can drink while lying down, without choking.
It works, and I love it!
All hospitals should usexthis for patients to drink.

Don't nobody laugh! You don't know how many times I have fallen asleep while trying to drink more water, leaving the cap off my bottled water. It's true!
And, I have Phoenix to thank! So, thank you for making my life that much easier.
Hubby thanks you too-we were so tired of trying to save the mattress from water!
