It sounds too good to be true. I'm on their waitlist and I'm hoping that it will be just what my husband needs. I've been at his side 24/7 for over six years. It would be heavenly to be able to run errands by myself. If you have any experience using them, I'd love to hear from you.

Find Care & Housing
Since you're on the waitlist, why don't you try using Care.com in the meantime? It's the same business model. Careyaya just had a more specialized pool of caregivers, which is why they have a waitlist -- not enough supply to meet the demand. You might find someone you like enough to keep using. Then when your turn comes up on the other site, you can try them also.

I used care givers from two different companies when I broke my knee last summer, and while they were nice, they basically ignored my husband. They were also very expensive, compared to the students.

I'm hoping that these young people--who are studying and planning on a career in the field of medicine--will encourage him to reclaim some of his musical ability. He used to play guitar and bass, but that skill has slipped away. He loves to sit and listen to classical music (which none of the caregivers enjoyed).

When you hire a caregiver you are hiring them for you. They are not suppose to care for anyone else. If husband needed care because you couldn't do it, you would have needed to pay extra.

This is a program with a very limited scope both in terms of where it is available and what kind of assistance is offered - it's basically just companion care within the area surrounding some universities. I happy you are willing to get some respite but I'm curious why you chose this organization and not one of the many other home care companies that are undoubtedly available to you.
