Right now patient is walking everyday ,does not get lost bathes ,eats at dining room in independent living communityshe is unable to do phone technology, confused, wants to go out and do things but cannot drive ,her electric stove turned off, I need someone to check her needs everyday and follow through with assistance
If that is not feasible right away, then you have the option of placing her in a care facility for a respite stay.
If you want someone to provide in-home care for her while you are gone, then contact a local home care agency.
AgingCare.com can help connect you to home care providers in your area. Or just fill out the care finder form to the right of this column.
Do they have an AL section for more supervision? I would plan on a move in the near future. IL probably will not keep them.
This person as you describe should not be left alone so really MC would be the best alternative.
The administration of the facility may have restrictions as to who you could hire that would stay with your LO.
They may want to evaluate your LO as to the level of care that is needed. At that point they would restrict your LO to either MC or AL
Be aware, as you make your plans, that she may decline over the next three months and need additional supervision while you’re so far away, and think of some back-up plans such as having some family members take turns staying with her.
