What is the disadvantage if you don't? My father-in-law is in a skilled nursing facility in Fl he has medicare, Medicaid, and I pay from my own funds an insurance company $306 a month for supplemental insurance. each month. Is this necessary? am concerned if we drop the supplemental he will not get the care he needs

I would drop it if he is in a NH on Medicaid. I could see Medicaid Advantage Plans if he was a lot younger, with children at home, but not in this situation.

I'm no expert, but my cousin is on disability and has Medicare and Medicaid. She has a supplemental policy for her Prescription Meds, but that's it. So far, what Medicare doesn't cover, Medicaid has covered. I'm planning to discuss this issue with her Medicaid case worker soon.

There is no way she could afford any supplemental policy anyway. Her Silver Script premium is covered by a state program for low income, disabled people. I would also be afraid that $300. paid on her behalf could disqualify her for Medicaid. I'm just very concerned about things like that. It may not interfere, but I would ensure that before I proceeded.
