Medicaid normally does not pay for Assisted living. My State you private pay for at least 2 years and then Medicaid may pay. Most care facilities only have a % of Medicaid beds so if one is not available, a person cannot continue to stay in thst AL. Other States have wavers. You need to find out what is offered in your State.

Medicaid will pay for Longterm care but the person needs 24/7 care and fit the criteria which is they have no assets.

If you were to get into an AL on Medicaid, room and board is what they pay for. Medicaid would also cover vision, dental, prescriptions and the 20% Medicare does not cover. The persons Social Security and penson would be used to offset the cost. If there is a spouse involved, they need to see an elder lawyer to split their assets.

Medicaid will pay for a few hours of caregiving at home or will cover full skilled nursing home if qualified. The vast majority of AL is private pay. No insurance covers custodial care and ALs are only meant to assist someone with help for ADLs

Medicare will pay for your doctor visits and blood tests/labs in Assisted Living. Some physical therapy too if ordered by the doctor.
