NHWM, i am so glad to see you back, no matter how briefly. I am sorry to hear about your husband's diagnosis but will put him on my list of "in my thoughts" for a good outcome.

Many (((((((hugs))))))))).

Do not worry, a lot of what you might need to share can go unsaid.
Or unsaid for awhile. Until you are more comfortable.

I private message my friends a lot, who are really accepting of me.

Go slow, and do not get overwhelmed. We are here to help.
You were gone for such a long time, I started to think you were coming back, and that you did as 'NobodyGetsIt'. Lol.

I don't know if this happened to you, but after 'burnout', a person's perspective changes.

Thanks for understanding. Yes, our perspective can certainly change after burnout. I do feel that we truly see our priorities in a clearer way.

Sadly, we can also become numb for awhile. At least that became my experience for awhile. Maybe that is a survival tactic.

Please everyone encourage, even nag their spouses to go for regular checkups with a doctor. My husband was one who never went for a physical.

He came down with shingles and the doctor did blood work at a follow up appointment and that is when there was a suspicion and he was sent for further testing. Unfortunately the results came back as cancer.

NHWM, so true...why are they so resistant? I have 3 sons and tried mightily to get them to understand why annual physicals are essential (not to mention: free with our insurance!) It is also very important to see an actual M.D. or internist. My FIL went to a chiropractor for nagging back pain (and fatigue. FIL thought it was just "old age" (and the chiro didn't connect these 2 dots). Then my FIL passed out while driving due to a heart event (afib). At the hospital his imaging accidentally revealed he actually had pancreatic cancer. Granted, due to PC's very generic initial symptoms it usually goes undetected until it's too late. But had the chiro referred him to a physician when he couldn't solve his back pain (or his fatigue) he might have caught it sooner and maybe lived more, better quality years with us (and without depleting his savings with multiple ineffective treatments). And since you mentioned shingles...please: everyone who qualifies go get the newer Shingrex (2 dose) vaccination! You can get it even if you already had the older single dose vaccine.
