If your wife needs skilled nursing, therapy or other qualifying services after an illness and is homebound, Medicare Part A/B may cover intermittent home health when ordered and certified. It generally does not pay for ongoing custodial help, supervision or 24-hour care. For bathing, meals or supervision, ask her state Medicaid office about HCBS waiver or self-directed programs; eligibility and spousal rules vary. Her doctor or hospital social worker can assess needs, and your Area Agency on Aging can explain local options. I’m not a licensed agent.
