For everyone that is a caregiver for someone, especially their Mother, please stop and give her a big hug and a kiss. Tell her you love her and thanks for being your mom. My mom passed away this morning. I had been her caregiver for about 14 years. I knew she wasn't doing real well, but had no idea she would pass this morning. She had a very peaceful passing, as she went basically in her sleep. I was standing right at her bed with the Hospice nurse who was taking her blood pressure and she just stopped breathing. I did not even have a chance to tell her Happy Mother's Day. So please everyone take my advice and cherish this day and be thankful you can say Happy Mother's Day to her.

Debo, I am sure everyone here is truly sorry for your loss. Take a moment to look in the mirror and remind yourself that you did your very best to make her life as good as it could be. May you be blessed with that comfort. And now, you have a special angel looking over you! Take time for yourself and seek out a support group to help you through the transition. Thinking of you . . .

Deb, so sorry for your loss this Mother's Day. She passed peacefully, you were there with her. Remembering that good part will make Mother's Day special for you in years to come, I am hoping, through my own tears for you today.

Jessie, thank you and yes she did have a long battle. Hospice was excellent, everyone has been in and out of the house all day making sure I don't need anything, even the doctor has called me twice today making sure I'm OK. I have heard a lot about bad experiences with Hospice but I was really lucky to get such a great team.
Sendme, Thank you and yes, I am so glad it was extremely peaceful and I will always cherish that. I am sorry you have your own tears and I truly thank you for thinking about me. I will keep you in my thoughts and say a prayer for you.
Hugs to everyone, what a tough journey we go through.

Mine died the day before this year. I question her death..

Purple, I think questioning a death is a normal reaction for many. Most of the time, we just have to accept death as part of life and have faith that nothing illegal occurred.

Purple, I am so sorry for your loss. I am also sorry that you are going through questioning her death, that must be a horrible thing to have in your mind on top of the loss. Purple, please take care of yourself!!!

Glad, you are right that sometimes we just have to accept death as a part of life. I am not sure why purplegirl is questioning the death but that must be a horrible feeling on top of the loss.

Thank you littletonway for your thoughts and very kind words. It is so appreciated and this forum is awesome to have so many caring people. I am still taking care of my dad (married to my mom for 60 years) who is having a really hard time dealing with my mom's passing.

I have empathy for you because my father's mother died on mothers day and i was mad because she made very poor decisions and decided to smoke a bunch of d@mn cigarettes then she got lung cancer and passed away

Calebd, You do know we all die someday. Sorry for your loss. My father never smoked a day in his life, very healthy, but died of brain cancer. Let go of your anger. You'll feel better.
