Margaret - What a journey!!! I'm glad you survived it with no ill effects. Please update us re the CT scan I didn't know you needed one.

Nacy - It's good to keep your peace.

Eva - Moving is such a lot of work and so is settling in to a new place. I am so sorry to hear that your dh is in hospital, I hope you can get some rest and they find out what is wrong. I think needing activity and projects is part of coping with your husband's illness. You may be grieving the losses you both are experiencing. Such a hard time!!! ((((hugs))))

Few hours ago my husband ended up in hospital, no immediate danger as he had no heart attack or stroke.
Nothing to do now only wait till morning when they can run some tests and determine what is wrong which could be days.
Nothing to do with Parkinson’s as per neurologist sudden changes don’t occur, so very distressing but many symptoms point to something else.

Nacy,
Hard work moving but I think we are capable of more than we are giving ourselves credit for.
I am not super strong but moved in summer and between liquidating, decluttering, selling, giving away furniture, household items, looking for new furniture, ordering, legal and other concerns I worked 10-16 hours days. Actually it felt great, physically as well. Now even after 3 months there are things to do, I am in need to do more.
Having sick and getting worse husband seems to create a need for me to be constantly on the move. I need projects, ideas, purpose.

I am so happily done with posters that cause me anxiety, or tension.

So much easier for me now to just walk away.

I'm at peace in my heart, don't need drama.

It's a very good place to be.

Many of the post that are completely off the wall are just here out of boredom. I'm not giving anyone the satisfaction of causing me drama anymore.

Margaret, WOW, your whole body must ache. That's quite the adventure! I know 30 year olds that wouldnt be able to handle that.

Take care, get some rest, things will get unpacked , when they get unpacked. No hurry now, to get things done.

Dear Friends, I’ve finished one of the most difficult weeks of my life – completing packing up the farm house and driving 1500kms to Alice Springs in the truck on a very bouncy Stuart Highway. Three days and nights, including one where the accommodation was booked out and we both spent an uncomfortable night in the truck cabin. We got here at 6pm Thursday, in time for my CT scan at 10am yesterday morning.

It’s a big truck, the biggest ‘rigid’ (ie not a semi-trailer), with 10 wheels, plus a car trailer with four more wheels. One thing that might be useful for more (normal? sensible?) posters might be the sticker I read every time I climb up the 4 step ladder into the truck cabin. The little picture shows ‘3 points anchorage’ - two hands on the side hand rails and one foot on a step, while the other foot takes the next step up. I am now very used to ‘3 points holding on’ for stability, and it’s not a bad habit to keep living with. A much better habit than the trip. I glad that’s the last load. I reckon at 77 I’m too old for this.

It’s good to find that the Age Care people are still in the same place!
Love, Margaret

My uncle's wife died in the 80s in a car accident. She was drinking, a single car accident.

He sold his house, stopped drinking, in his 60s, bought an RV. Worked at Disney land in the winter, traveled the US in the summer, went to 48 State Capitols.

Came back and became a horse trainer.

All between 60 and 90 .

So inspiring

Just came home from my uncle's military funeral, it was very touching, and in a strange way inspirational.

Learning all the things he did after retirement, he truly reinvented himself.

Somedays I feel a little silly for being a 60 year old and finally learning all the things I never new because of being dyslexic, because I never new how to learn. Now that I'm learning how, and the positive benefits of dyslexia, I've been inspired to keep learning.

He totally inspired me to keep up what I've been doing.

Thanks Alva, yeah, I think blood clots after probable covid took my dad, but it was at the very start.

My brother went to Italy, right before they shut down, brought home a cold.

Houseflower, thanks, that's what I was thinking, to keep an eye on, her cognition wasn't not great today, cold be covid brain fog, also could be from being alone so much, but UTI is definitely something to think of if it gets worse.

Watch out for clots! SIL got clot in lung after his covid bout. Being followed in one of those followup long covid blood dyscrasias and clotting orders thingys.

Nacy, I had covid twice and both times had UTIs right after. So I think it is a good idea to keep a look out for that.

I am wondering if after covid, we should watch out for UTIs?

My brother had one after covid, I expect it had something to do with dehydration, he has never ha one before.

Just wondering, anyone else experience this?

Eva, your right finding something that gives you a purpose in life is so important, I think it changes year by year.

Id think even my mom feeding her squirrel friends can give you a purpose.

Alva that is excellent app.
Nacy, yes Jimmy Carter wants to be alive at least to vote which begins mid October. It is going to be interesting Nov, I think entire world will be watching
Sadly, his grandson gave update on his health and he is sleeping most of the time.
Jimmy Carter some years ago talked about longevity and what contributed in his view to this, one was finding purpose in life.
I am thinking about that often as it seems to me caregiving cannot be it for me, what if something changes drastically?

That's sounds really good Alva I'll look into that app!!

I heard Jimmy Carter, is fighting to stay alive until after election. I hope he makes it

He is getting there!

Yes, port strike. Biggest in many decades. Funny how you so seldom get the real news anymore, but just repetitive same old stories over and over. I found an app I LOVE which is CNNs app called 5 things. It gives a very brief paragraph on five things you really should know this this day. The port strike was one. Covers the world so you can imagine you get 5 IMPORTANT things.

Adding to this for no reason at all! Jimmy Carter is 100.

Feeling the same here Evamar.
The dresses may never arrive.
A friend told me something about a port strike?

For this new month, starting today, we are on a strict budget.
Considering cancelling a lot of automated payments.
Can I be strong enough to cancel instacart too? We will see.

Sendhelp,
I did that as well and felt stupid.
Ordered from one of those online store because they had those greek tunic dresses which I really loved in my fav store.
Well, it arrived, cheap clingy polyester, size small in asian sizes is like size 0. $40.00 gone.
Good thing hubby gave me Gift certificate to my fav store and I purchased two authentic greek tunics, which are beautiful and will last at least 5 years.
Great cotton, beautiful design.
And they were on sale!
For good measure I ordered another one from original store in Greece, which had sale and I got another discount.
I can wear them all summer, take on every trip and wear with snickers and hat for tour or at night with nice sandals and some delicate jewelry.
Diversity, durability and quality!

I will wait to hear from you Send.

Yes, the clothes are lovely and I noticed one of the models looked like she had to stand funny to not have the sleeve stretched. Truly is a buyer beware, when I tried to read their return policy it would not come up, makes sense now.

I just placed an Amazon order that can be expected before Oct 16, so something is up with deliveries apparently. Good thing it isn't anything I need right away.

Thanks for the update.

Something doesn't feel right about my clothing order.
It is possible I had made this same mistake over 5 years ago.
The names have changed, but the m.o is the same.

A beautiful product arrives, made weirdly, in a way that leaves no room for normal body parts.

I now recall that you must pay for returns.

Not worth it.

I just did not learn my lesson.

I will write again if it all comes out good.

I should have read the reviews.

Thank you Isthisrealyreal.
I hope they arrive!
Soon.

Wait.
Online reviews indicate delivery may be an issue/delayed or wrong product.
Coming from Hong Kong with no delivery date given. They did not tell me that.

Their products might not be their own.
Such a large selection.

Do the clothes look too beautiful to be true?

Ols cancel my recommendation.

I would feel so very bad to have misled anyone.

Waiting on delivery.

Just ordered some flowery dresses from curvedream online.
The clothes all look beautiful.
Don't mean to fight the casual trend, but I feel fall traditionally brings on dressier clothing.
If I don't like them at only 35 dollars, I can wear them as a house dress.
