100% Service Connected Veteran was resident at Nursing Home. Picked him up for outing and he was not well. Drove to ER and admitted due to multiple falls and evidence of bleeding on the brain. Nursing Home advised that he fell 4 times on different occasions and no one witnessed the falls, they did visual look for injuries but did not order labs, xrays, MRI or medical transport to hospital which is negligence. After treatment and post surgery, the hospital discharged my loved one, the Nursing Home Physician re-entry. We paid in full for bed hold on 11th day of hospitalization until the day the doctor denied re-entry, total of 7 days. The Nursing Home sent us a bill for bed hold for an additional 7 days. Are we responsible for paying after a bed hold physician denied re-entry? The Veteran has Alzheimer, so as POA Agent/NOK requested the money they had in his trust account at the facility over 30 days past his denial/discharge but they have not returned it. Is the Nursing Home obligated to return the money we deposited into his trust account, once his was denied re-entry/discharged?

I would contact the VA. You should have NO expenses, they should be covered by the VA.
Call the VA and ask for a Patient Advocate or a Social Worker.

If you are talking about a Personal Needs acct, that is his money. You paid for a hold and now they won't let him back? Call the Ombudsman.
