She thinks she is one of those folks who doesn't need help. In order to have a successful claim one must need help with at least 2 "activities of daily living." She will tell anyone who asks that she is just fine. If this happens during her assessment the claim will be denied for sure.

Do you have POA and letters as to her incompetency from physicians. I am so sorry to tell you that my own experience as a nurse with LTC insurance has not been good. The fact is I am seeing people take out LTC by putting their homes in Reverse Mortgage, only to find out their coverage is not what they think. A careful reading of these contract is crucial. Often LTC will not click in if there is not a 24/7 RN on duty. Trust me, that just doesn't happen in this day and age.
Worried for you. Read the LTC contract carefully. Get a lawyer to help if needed; it will be worth it. You will find out quickly enough if you need a Lawyer letter or if the situation is quite hopeless. Wishing you the best of luck.
I am wishing you so much luck and hoping you will update us, as this is a problem for so many here.

You might also want to search on the forum “long term care insurance” and you’ll find many threads on this subject.

I hope this helps.
