She has done this before, when in rehab waiting for placement. We took her phone away, some time ago, and some times they let her use the “house phone” in other words.. can she be committed to a psychiatric institution?

To clarify, from your profile you say your Mom is now in LTC? Why was she in rehab... did she fall and break something and didn't recover her mobility?

Is your Mom on any meds for agitation/depression? If not, she needs to be.

If you're concerned about her behavior, talk to the admins to strategize how best to deal with her so that she can have a more peaceful daily life there.

Thank you, she is heavily medicated, but it may be time to reevaluate it.

Hard to say, although a friend of mine was, moved to another facility into memory care. No cell phones were allowed in that wing.

I doubt if she would be removed for calling 911. What the staff should be told is she is not to be lent a phone. She can't use one period, not even to call you. The NH will contact u with any problems. Its not an unusual problem. Maybe Mom should have some anxiety meds.

Thank you, yes she just needs more meds…. Clearly, now there “forever” what else is there. The whole thing makes me sick.
