Hello --

As far as state regulations go, it's best to check with the governing body in your state. In this case, you might contact the state office of occupational safety and health and/or the long term care ombudsman.

I couldn't find a state or federal regulation for the use of a gait belt, only policies that require their effective use to prevent occupational injuries (see the links below). Individual centers should have their own policies. A chat with a physical therapist might be in order. Go to www.apta.org to look up a PT in your area.

Great information. I think a physical therapist or someone trained needs to show you, as just telling someone is not likely to work.
