What are the average cost for a healthy couple in independent living in Columbus Ohio? I see it is approx 2,500 per month for one but what about a couple?

I would think the rent would be the same whether one or two if its an apartment. It would be services that would be double, like meals, activities, using transportation provided. Really you need to call the facilities and see what they offer. As a forum of members from all over the US, hard to give info for a specific area.

Patandbill, cost per month can vary from area to area. And that monthly rent can vary from facility to facility as to what is included in that monthly rent.

In my neck of the woods, it was costing my Dad $5k-6k per month for a 2 bedroom apartment which had a full size kitchen, good size living room, one full bath. Dad wanted a home office, thus his need for a 2nd bedroom, and more room for all his books :)

Now, my Dad's monthly rent included just one meal daily in the main dining room, weekly housekeeping, and weekly linen service [bedding/towels]. Dad had to do his own personal laundry, pay for cable TV/internet, telephone, and electricity. If Dad didn't want to do his own breakfast and lunch, then the cost would be extra in the main dining room. It all worked out quite well.

Another senior facility could charge a bit more for monthly rent and include everything. So it is best to keep notes on those items.

Eventually Dad kept forgetting to take his meds. So he had to add on a Med-Tech service where a qualified Staff member would come into his room twice a day to give Dad his pills. That was an added $1000 per month... I know sounds very expensive, but it comes out to $30+ per day.

As for a second person in the apartment, every facility will be different. I would think there would be an added half month rent added to the full rent, or something similar.
