Is anyone familiar with this organization? It was cited in a response from Marketwatch.com to someone questioning the administration of a parent's estate & possible fraud. (I read marketwatch.com occasionally & there are sometimes financial questions relating to the elderly.) I find marketwatch.com a very good, credible site relating to financial matters; it is, however, subscription-based so only a certain number of free articles can be accessed in a given time period.

It was suggested by marketwatch.com to the query posed by the person (a son or daughter of a parent) that they find an eldercare lawyer. Within this reply there with an embedded link to this organization:

https://eldercare.acl.gov/Public/Index.aspx?mod=article_inline

This comes up at the link: "Welcome to the Eldercare Locator, a public service of the Administration for Community Living connecting you to services for older adults and their families" (Telephone No. also provided).

ACL = Administration for Community Living
My question: is anyone familiar with the ACL and using it to find an Eldercare Lawyer?

Thank you.

The Elder Law Attorney I use and my parents used I found by scrolling down to the bottom of this page to the center section and click on "Elder Law Attorneys".

Thanks freqflyer. I just checked what you cited below on this page. Easy to miss all the good info here on this site, so good to point things out. :)

Christine, this looks like all of the aged services have now been consolidated for ease of understanding and accessibility.

I think this looks great. I had to reach out to many different agencies and find resources anyway possible, I wish I had this resource when I was helping my parents.

Looks like the Government is getting its act together for our seniors and helping to keep them in their homes and avoiding crises that can be avoided with help. Yahoo!!!

I will definitely be sharing this resource with others in need.

From Wikipedia:
"The Administration for Community Living (ACL) is part of the United States Department of Health and Human Services. It is headed by the Administrator and Assistant Secretary for Aging, who reports directly to the Secretary of Health and Human Services (HHS). ACL's Principal Deputy Administrator serves as Senior Advisor to the HHS Secretary for Disability Policy.[2]
Organization".

The dot-gov and dot-org sites are almost always legit, and from briefly looking online this seems to be a legit site with a 1-800 number.

As to finding a certified elder law attorney I would go online for your area and post it just that way or CELA attorney.

I sure would love to hear from ANYONE who has used it for anything at all, because I have never heard of it before.
They sure aren't "letting us know" it exists out there, and wikipedia says they information posted on their own site needs "further verification".
I'd love to hear from anyone who using this site online or by phone, and what their experience is.

Thanks for this and hoping to hear more.

ACL.gov.

Apparently, given that it is a .gov site, it is a part of the federal government.
But I know nothing about it.
First written about on this site last week, in discussions, I think.

Must have a website.
Personally, I know nothing.
They may have a list of Elder Law Attorneys for certain areas, but I wouldn't know how vetted they are, or by whom.
I would just look up an CELA elder law attorney (certified elder law attorney) in your area online.

Naela.org will show who is in your area. You can look at profiles. You can also look for those with the highest certification, which is CLEA.
Some people also go to the NELF website

My Chiropractor recommended an Elder attorney and this is how I found this site - he used a Lot of articles from here . He is Listed here under Care topics and also gives Money to advertise with Teepa Snow and the Alzheimers association. Maybe the Alzheimers association near you can recommend an elder attorney ? Try the senior center too
