He’s had kidney disease for the past 12 years so he’s been careful about his sodium content. We currently have a friend who is a chef making him meals and she says she doesn’t salt anything, yet he says everything tastes too salty. I know he was always worried about food being salty in the past and bothering his kidneys, so I’m wondering if he could be having extreme anxiety about it, worried about his kidneys perhaps and worried she’s using salt? I’ll have to try and mention it to his doctor.

Even without adding any salt while cooking there can be a lot of sodium in pre-made ingredients (depending on what your friend is cooking). Ask your father what he likes to eat, maybe plain, simple foods will suit him better.

Thank you, I checked and I think she used regular chicken broth in her chicken soup instead of low sodium. I guess i needed to be more specific on what he can eat

There's a new person, a chef, making your dad's meals and he's saying they taste too salty. I'd go with believing him on this one. She's likely using ingredients that have more sodium in them than he's used to eating. A little can taste like a LOT!
