Tammy, I know what you mean by being scared. When it first noticed that my Dad wasn't recalling events very well I figured that was just part of aging. Recently Dad is doing what is called sundowning, where around 4pm he gets confused about things in general... now that really rattled me.

Due to my Dad age, he's pushing 95, I decided not to get him tested for dementia... I had read up on the disease and am seeing all the signs. If he was much younger, I would have taken him to a doctor that specializes in memory issues.

Dementia is interesting... it takes away current memory... and maintains very long term events. My Dad can talk all about his boyhood and college days like it just happened. Yet, Dad keeps asking me if I got a new battery for his watch which he gave me a couple weeks back... I was surprised he remembered doing that.

Tammy see if you can get your dad a Cat scan of his brain. You're looking to see how much his brain has shrunk. If it is a lot, then he probably has dementia.
