Their regular hourly rate. You and your mother are going on vacation to the beach. Her caregivers are going to work. That you're paying for their rooms is expected.

Pay them their regular wages. You're on vacation not them. They are at work. Make sure you have a long talk with the caregivers beforehand. Be very detailed about what hours you expect them to work.If they're working their regular hours that they normally do, don't expect more than that. Understand that when their work hours are done their time is their own. Don't expect anything that isn't discussed ahead of time and laid out in writing. You pay for their rooms, meals, and transportation. If you're taking your mother on an outing and there is a paid admission and she needs caregivers with her, you pay that. The caregivers are making special accommodations to travel to care for your mother, so all expenses are paid. Most importantly be totally honest before leaving for the vacation about exactly what you expect and are paying for. No surprises.

I agree. The caregiver shouldn’t have to pay for anything extra. In addition to the salary, I would pay for all meals too. It’s wonderful to have the convenience of a caregiver accompanying them on the trip.

Yes, pay for the room and food. Also, pay her for the same amount of hours that she regularly works. If you’re feeling generous allow her to purchase a souvenir from the gift shop.

Years ago, I asked our regular babysitter to join us for our vacation at the beach because my oldest daughter asked to bring two of her friends along with us. We agreed that my daughter’s friends could come.

We decided to bring along a sitter. It worked out well because we were able to spend a couple of nights having dinner out by ourselves. The sitter ordered pizza to be delivered for them to eat.

We paid the sitter a salary, and paid for all of her meals. She stayed in one of the condo’s bedrooms. We also allowed her to pick out a souvenir to bring home.

Keep it simple just pay them what they be paid if they were hone with mom. Unless they are working more and longer hours then pay them more money. Don't be cheap about it. It's not a full on vacation for them.
