My mother lives close by, and both wants and needs her own home. Sadly, she is a smoker, and can't seem to quit. At the age of 90, I know that she never will. We are truly blessed to be able to live near each other. When I went to her house this morning, I noticed a cigarette burn on her bedspread, and it scared me to death. I immediately returned home to search for fireproof, flame retardant or flame resistant bedding on the internet. I could only seem to find vendors who sell such items wholesale and for institutions such as hotels, prisons, senior living facilities, etc in large quantities. Has anyone found such fireproof bedding from any source, and if so, could you please share that information. I am terrified that she will cause a fire in her bed!!
This is an interesting question; I hope you find something - it sounds like an unsettling situation.
Now, who is buying Mom her cigarettes? How can she afford them, as depending on what State you live in, a pack can cost up to $12.00 a pack.
Is there something else Mom can use as a substitute for her cigarettes? What about chocolate or something she really likes. If Mom says smoking relaxes her, that is true, but it is deep inhaling and strong exhaling that does the relaxing, not the cigarette. One can create the same relax feeling using a short soda straw.
