My dad was renting and lived alone when he had a 16 day stay in the hospital, then to rehab and now into a nursing home due to renal failure. I was taking care of him daily with meals, meds, bills, etc. Most of what my mom did for him. He is doing well and in a wonderful facility. HIs furniture and personal belongings need to be removed from is rent house and the house cleaned. I am trying to spend down assets to qualify him for Medicaid. Would this expense be ok? Thank you.
I don’t know the answer to your question. Stick around because I am sure that someone will know the answer to your question.
This is a good time to say to others that it is not necessary to bust your back to clean out when the other person has finances
Medicaid only worries about large amounts. My Moms bank statement was her proof. Medicaid saw the money coming in an going out. What they look for is discrepancies. Something not normally paid for. Which maybe what you pay someone to clean out if a large amount.
When it comes to you, I don't think you can personally profit. But, you can charge for the equipment you rent to shampoo the rug. Anything you purchase for repairs. If u paint, the paint, brushes, drop cloth. If you need to rent a dumpster or a truck to haul things away. You keep all the receipts and when all is said and done write a check to yourself if ur on Dads acct or have POA or have Dad write it. But I don't think you can pay yourself.
