I am almost seventy, caring for a ninety year old mom. I need to convert all hand note taking to digital, to document her care and issues from now on.

I have full Durable General Power Of Attorney and as "attorney in fact" have assisted her in seeking long term care. I am an ADHD Adult dealing with her mid-stage dementia, after personally being put through the ringers for the past two years. She even evicted me in the middle of a freaking pandemic!!! I have enough material for a book; not sure if it would be a tragedy or a comedy.

But, I now need a good referral to a preferred note taking / record keeping application for my home computer and my Samsung smartphone. Increasingly I am going to want to share my accounting of time and resources with my attorneys and digital is the best most efficient way.

Any recommendations? I am partial to APPs with bells, whistles, color codes, stimulating graphics and a sense of humor. If it includes "voice to text" capabilities, great. If there is an AI (Artificial Intelligence) computer assistant program that is like an "Alexa" or a "Cortana," only for CareGivers, then I would also be interested in that too.

Thanks! and,

"Onward, Through The Fog!" :)

I'm sure you wrote this in a joking manner, but if not, think seriously about the concept.    You have an obligation as proxy under a DPOA to honor privilege requirements, and certainly do as well under HIPAA.   Your mother's health and transactions should remain private and not be published.

I apologize if I've misinterpreted your comments, but if they weren't written in a humorous tone, your role would certainly need to be assessed as you have a duty to your mother to respect her personal and health issues.

As to recordkeeping, I've relied on Excel for recording expenditures, as well as mileage and time (which I only keep for my own use as I don't charge for my time).    I like Excel b/c it's so much easier to add and calculate, and I can use the bottom line figures as input to tax returns, once I get all the formulas in and set up.

I don't use a Smart phone - couldn't afford one even if I wanted one, so I can't offer anything on this issue, but I suspect many here can and will offer good suggestions.

I would compliment you as well on creating a good system for recordkeeping, one that can be backed up, copied and stored offline for safety.

Yes an excel maybe the best thing. They can be formatted in so many ways. My daughter has set them up "per page" but able to stay under one heading. I have not worked with one for years so they have probably really improved.

Problem with it in two different places, not sure the info will carry over like with google photos for example. I can take pictures on my phone and they sinc to my tablet. My laptop is 10yrs old and not supported anymore so things have probably changed there too.

Now your phone. I have a Samsung and have Word and Excel on it. I think for xtra money you can get extra features. I found this in searching

"Installing apps is simple. Just use the search button on the home screen and click Search Play for, as described in Step 4. This will open Google Play, where you can click "Install" to get the app. Bluestacks has an Android app so you can sync installed apps between your PC and Android device if needed.Feb 13, 2017"

Consider Google Sheets. It works like Excel. You can make changes on your laptop or with an app on your phone.

All of my Microsoft licenses have expired, so I don’t pay for them-I use Google Drive. Most of the same functionality, and I can go between devices.

Thanks for info. Seems the Google would be the good choice.

Yes; I have a sense of humor or I would not have survived this long! Thanks for your reminders though.

I won't be writing any books any time soon. ;)
