Mom grew up reading these British authors and will enjoy reading them again but Im not finding their books at a 2nd grade level. Our public library doesn't have these authors on a very simple level and now library is closed indefinitely anyway.

Or are there very simple stories that begin with "Once upon a time..." that I can print out for her?

Thank you !

Try searching simplified or abridged classics for children, I've found a couple of free sites. And even though your library is closed there is no doubt a digital option for both print and audio books, I would start there.

Yes! Audible is letting people download the classics through the pandemic.

Try websites that cater to the blind. Look for the time slot that is dedicated to young adults. We have an excellent station that caters to the blind here and just as many sighted people listen to classics, fiction, non fiction, newspapers, magazines, medical journals, poetry, short stories, etc.

Hi JoAnn!! We are ok so far. Mom's getting tired of YT videos now and I'm also tiring of keeping her occupied and busy when her favorite thing to do is to sit in her room with all lights off - in the daytime! Is this something which dementia people do?? At least she sleeps through the night...thank God!

Hope things are alright with you too- stay healthy & safe.

Simple classics? Is there such a thing? Or do you mean the classics rewritten for younger readers?

Is she still able to follow and enjoy movies and videos? Given what I remember from your previous posts I am doubtful that your mother has the capacity to read a novel, even a simplified one, but it's certainly worth trying.

She cannot follow movies anymore. She can follow YT videos on cooking, travel, Indian religious chanting if she's familiar with them already. She can read books at 1st grade level if they are in large print.

Thanks.
