My Dad turned 85 last month. He and his lady friend took a trip to Kentucky, and when he came home, he supposedly had a cancer test(?) he's told everyone else in the family but me, his own Son

I'd be perplexed, too -- especially since he seems to be telling others. But we are only getting your side of the story so we can't guess at any family dynamics that have been in play. If you ask any one of the other people he's told why they think he hasn't told you, what would they say?

This is your dad’s choice and you’ll need to honor it. He could be nervous, private by nature, or want the outcome before discussing. There are a myriad of reasons he may not be ready to talk about it. Leave it be and don’t be hurt over it. You will know what you need to in time

He doesn't want to worry you. It is a TEST that could be negative and nothing to worry about. He will let you know when he knows.

Ask him. Tell him you heard through the grapevine he was tested for Cancer. Why did he not tell you.

It could have been a routine test like a colonoscopy. I wouldn't worry about it.

I get monitored once a year for MGUS. It is a benign blood condition but is a long term precourser of multiple myeloma. I go to the cancer center to get the blood work done each year but I don't have cancer.

It could be something like a colonoscopy screening or a blood screening for MGUS or prostate issues.

Why don't you call and talk to your Dad.
