My father-in-law is looking for something that his wife with dementia symptoms can wear that will help him locate her around the house. They live on large property and although my MIL does not wander my FIL wants to be proactive so he can feel she is safe but doesn't have to be on top of her all the time. I have heard of trackers that can be worn as pendants but not sure of logistics of how they work. we are not sure how receptive she would be to wear something so the idea of jewelry or something similar may be appealing. thanks for any thoughts.

Another thought: Many eldercare facilities use electronic wrist bands that automatically alert the desk or caregiver if the patient has gone outside. Again, the tech aspect may be too much for Dad. Not to be flippant, but we're about done to a cowbell here.......

There are GPS pendants out there but the same problems arise: would she wear it and can Dad handle the tech stuff to track her on an I phone or computer?

Thanks Windyridge carrying a cell phone will likely be a problem due to the issue you mentioned. I am just also not sure about my FIL using the app and/or if there might be a lower tech option?

Many families use GPS apps on cell phones to keep track of kids. If mom would carry one she could be traced easily 24/7. But it can be a problem with old folks making sure they keep the phone on them. I use a GPS device on my dads car but he doesn't know it's there. I check his whereabouts every day from 3 states away.
