My mother was recently diagnosed with locally advanced non resectable pancreatic cancer. Since I live an hour away I have been staying with them often. This has caused a great deal of financial stress on me. I love my mother and want the very best for but it's getting a little hard to manage all of her doctors appointments, her care and see to it that my needs are met as well. What should I do?

((((Hugs)))))).

I'm so sorry for this awful diagnosis. Is your dad still alive?

I assume what you mean is that you are losing income because of all the time you are taking off.

Can you work something out with your employer where you work 4 long days and have a day off each week for appointments?

Can mom pay for your gas?

Consider attending some of her appointments via phone from work.

I know you probably want to be with your mom for all her appointments but it may not be feasible for you to go to alk of them. The american cancer society has free concierge service to and from appointments as well as other free services to help people going through cancer treatments etc.

Also anyone with pancreatic cancer and other cancers and terminal diagnosises automatically qualified for SSDI which can be higher than just straight social security.
