You have gotten so much good advice I really dont have much to add. I was in a similiar situation before Mom went to the Nursing home but not quite as severe. But like yourself stuck between a rock and a hard place. I have been following this thread and wondering if you were able to make some progress. Thanks for posting an update! Hope it helps having an "official" set of eyes on MIL and in turn that helps. As Moms POA my hands were tied. Dr didnt want to declare her incompetent and suggested I not try for guardianship but he didnt know what all was going on at the house. But things were definitely out of control. He suggested if she flipped out we could call EMS and if they thought she was not in her right mind they would take her to the hospital whether she refused or not. You might check with the Sheriff's Dept or City Police regarding a "Health Warrant" before you leave the states. I dont think it is the same as the Baker Act but I could be wrong. The patient can be taken to the hospital against their will. Your post hits close to home. I know how stressful this can be. Good Luck To You.

This is disgusting beyond belief. I don't care why she is doing this, it cannot continue. You must immediately find a way to get her into a proper facility. Contact your local Office on Aging. I think they will be able to help you. She can't live with you and she can't live in her home either.

Just from your description, something immediately grabbed my attention. I must point something out that irritates normal people.

Have you ever heard of stories where people are classified as adult babies? It makes you want to knock it out of them and I don't blame you! In fact, there's one man on YouTube who is on federal benefits and fraudulently taking money when he could be working. He's able bodied and build his own adult baby furniture and I hope someone cuts him off and forces him out the door and into the workforce. If he likes carpentry, he can just get out and make money in carpentry. Yes, someone who's an adult baby definitely has obvious mental problems and it sounds like this particular person probably needs to be locked up because there are places for people with these kinds of problems. It's not right that someone who could contribute to society would rather act like a baby and I don't blame anyone who would even go as far as physically knocking it out of them because in some cases, that's what's needed. They need to grow up and be the adults they're meant to be and curb this type of behavior
