As said, at his age and his health problems he would not qualify for longterm insurance. This needs to purchased when your much younger. With your Dads health problems he may need Hospice care.

You posted back in 2024 that the doctor had signed off for pallitive care. Did Dad take advantage of it?

Long-term insurance may pay for some services, but it depends on the policy terms and conditions. It would have been purchased years ago though. If he is a military vet he would be eligible for many medical and social services. If he needs more medical attention due to his chronic conditions and memory loss, he should qualify for skilled nursing. Any option is hospice which is paid for by Medicare; however, he would need to qualify if he has a terminal condition and be evaluated and admitted by his attending physician with less than 6 months to live. I know because I just placed my 89 year old mom who lives in a NH on hospice and she also has CKD, dementia, a-fib and now malnutrition. My heart goes out to you and your dad...best of luck.

It frankly doesn’t sound like he’d be eligible for any insurance that would pay off. It sounds, frankly, that he is ready for hospice.
