just got walker and ramp and chair lifts. But need help with getting dinner ready and have some one watch me eat so I don't choke and help if I fall also need help putting clothes on I live in Lebanon County PA

Debra if you just posted your whole name and location, you have given too much personal information. I am notifying admins so that you can change your online name.
Anyhow. One thing you mentioned is that you are choking on food. Can you speak tonyour doctor about this? It might be time to have a speech therapy evaluation who can give you advice on what you can safely eat before you catch aspiration pneumonia.

I suggest moving to an Assisted Living community and signing up for the full meal plan so that you'll be having all of your meals prepared and served in a dining room with staff and neighbors who can keep an eye on you and be readily available if you have a choking issue. A staff member can help you get dressed in the morning and changed at night. The facility will be accessible and they will have opportunities for outings and activities via accessible vehicles. You can also sign up for physical therapy and occupational therapy to help maintain your physical abilities and skills, and speech therapy, which can focus not on speech but swallowing so that you can minimize the choking issues for as long as possible.

I suggest that you call your County Disability Dept. My nephew, in NJ, qualified for State help. He gets 70% of his rent paid, a coordinator and an aide. He receives this help because he has Cerebral Palsy on this left side.

Press the Find Care tab on top of this page and fill out the form. Someone from A Place For Mom will be in touch soon.

Good luck to you.

People have reported that APFM won’t work with Medicaid clients. If she’s already receiving services through the government or needs to do so, there’s no incentive for apfm to continue a relationship.

Unless you have robust financial resources to pay for 24/7 in-home care you may inevitably need facility care. You need to discuss/plan for this with a financial planner or elder law attorney. You need to assign a PoA because if you don't, you will (not maybe) eventually be assigned a 3rd party legal guardian or conservator by the courts because without a PoA or legal guardian no one will legally be able to manage any of your affairs or make decisions in your best interests.

The benefit of going into a facility sooner rather than waiting for a crisis is that you get to decide. If you wait, you may not have any choice where you go.

I wish you success in getting everything you need in place and peace in your heart on this journey.

We aren’t ourselves paid caregivers, nor can we give references. It seems to me that whoever assisted you with obtaining your mobility devices might also assist with obtaining Medicaid hours.
