Sure they can, and many places provide WIFI. What they can't do is use the computer to record other patients or staff.

wwpwin, you would need to check with the main office to see if computers are allowed. Desktop computer could be allowed but not the small hand held computers as those can become misplaced, lost, or taken by another resident.

My Dad had his desk top computer and printer when he lived in Independent Living, and I could have brought the computer over to Assisted Living/Memory Care but Dad hadn't logged onto the computer in months, he forgot how to use it... sad, as he use to write code.

Some senior facilities have one or two computers in a common room that the residents can use to check their emails and for research.

If I go in the nursing home with medicare, social security and my retirement income---will the nursing home allow me to take my premiums for my prescription drug plan and medigap plan F out of my income ? Would I have to sell my personal belongings? Besides my home and car?

wwpin if you need Medicaid to pay for the nursing home, you will not need Rx and Medigap insurance, because Medicaid also pays for the drugs/doctors.
Your SS and Retirement go to the nursing home, Medicaid pays the rest.
You do NOT have to sell the home and car, but there will be no money available to pay for house or car expenses. Your personal belongings are similarly protected. My advice is to sell the car, and rent out the house so someone else is paying the taxes, insurance and utilities.
