They have not tried any new meds her outcries are more of a repetitive one word. I feel that they have not done much for her. I dont get any calls complaining about her. I got the call on Tuesday from the social worker she told me that they could no longer provide services for her. Today is Thursday and I still have not received a call back from her. What are my options? Her cry outs are not constant. She is mainly quiet and likes to look out the window. I feel horrible. No one seems to care . She does have dementia. Has lived on her own since she feel in October and broke her hip.Any suggestions on how to handle this situation.

A friend had a similar problem with her mom. She was yelling racial slurs and throwing feces. It was pretty bad. But it was a nursing home, they are supposed to be able to deal with alzheimers. If they can't, who can? She had her attorney handle it and the home backed down. There really was no where else to place her.

My Mom was in a nursing home to get pain under control, and she was in a semi-private room. They brought a woman in and put her in the room with her who obviously had late stage dementia, and even though they had private care givers during the day, they didn't at night, so my mother ended up getting up at night at trying to calm her down - she was in there for horrible hip pain and ended up getting out of her own bed to try to calm this poor lady down. A couple of days later she went to the hospital and died. My mom was very upset over the whole thing. There has to better ways to handle that.

Is she actually in a nursing home? How often do you see her? Is she on Medicaid? I have heard that some places will try to evict Medicaid residents and then bring in more self pay. That is not legal. However if she is causing other residents problems, and it may be more than yelling, most places will tell you that the level of care is beyond what they can take care of safely. Some places will also offer the option of YOU hiring a private caregiver so she has someone available all of the time.

If it is the telling, staff will stop helping other residents to go check on and help your Mom. There is not a single facility that would be able to afford additional staff sufficient to take care of everyone.

How awful? when my mum was in respite a NH up the road there was a woman whod had a stroke she said the same thing over and over and over drove me mad BUT i have to say the staff were super and gave her extra attention? I mean hurling abuse and throwing feces? i dont know but as you say if professionals cant handle this who can? I dont know if she gets kicked out then where does she go? do they then end up in an institution? its a disgrace.

Just to add in this home they have different sections depending on what stage they are at so being put in with someone that far gone wouldnt happen there?
