Is there a professional who helps people ...FIND... suitable care facilities?
There exists (and I have witnessed) truly terrible "care" facilities.
I'd like to know who to ask the real questions on finding places.

Find Care & Housing
Do you know what type of care? If it's AL, then the owners of this forum can help (A Place For Mom). In my experience with them they are only interested in finding AL, and don't bother if your LO needs MC or LTC or is on or needs Medicaid.

Otherwise you may want to find a Geriatric Care Manager to help you search.

If I were you I'd join Nextdoor.com, which is an intranet of your actual neighbors in your actual community (and non-anonymous). Post a "Recommendations wanted" and you will soon gets lots of good and accurate input for local facilities. It's free.

First you are going to have to know what kind of care you are looking for and can afford.
Does your loved one need Independent living, Assisted Living, of Memory Care.

Next, I would not trust a "professional" you aren't paying, as most who guide you are paid by the facilities to guide you THERE to them.

I would do the footwork myself. That is to say if you are ABLE and if you know what to look for.

My brother used an independent woman operating in Palm Springs when he had to place his ex. He loved her.
When my brother needed care we did it ourselves.

So decide first what level of care is needed.
Next decide what level of care can be afforded given all assets.
Next arrange virtual tours.
Then pick those places you wish to visit and do so.
When you are ready to actually do the hoof work let us know and we can guide you a bit what to look for in any given TYPE of facility.

Also do some research: google "What to look for in choosing (insert Assisted Living Facility or Memory Care of Board and Care). Read up. Form lists of questions.

This is more a DIY project if you are up to it. Putting it in the hands of a paid professional? Depends on how good they are and who is paying them. You need to know both before trusting.

For some reason your profile is not showing due to a glitch. Are you looking for nursing homes? You still need to go out and visit to see if the place is a good fit for your LO.

Just realize that the good ones have wait list so it is best to find a place when there still is a few months of private pay, particularly when Medicaid is near.
