The average processing time is six to eight months. With certain cases of disability or severe decline, it can get fast tracked but the norm seems to be 6-8 months. It is paid retroactively. It can affect anyone on Medicaid in terms of income once granted. If a big back payment is received, you need to coordinate any spend down if the person is on Medicaid with the case worker or a lawyer to avoid disqualification.
