I have a screen shot that shows The agency had access to my WiFi & my password without consent or my permission. The basis is they use Algorithms to create a profile then it uses Artificial Intelligence to monitor my Mom . You have no view but they can listen to what I’m saying as the family Caregiver, whenever my brother or any one comes over frequently. Unless your a Techie you probably think I’m nuts.

Thank you very much

I checked with my techie husband. His best guess is:
1) It needs to use your WIFI. Installing their own separate WIFI would be uneconomic.
2) If you change your password, they can’t use your WIFI, so it won’t work.
3) A proper use of this would be to use an algorithm to identify sounds like bangs, screams, snores/ breathing, falls etc. However quite clearly, monitoring sounds should not be an alternative to providing the care they have contracted to provide.
4) To avoid it hearing and transmitting conversations, put a pillow over the microphone.
5) Alternatively, there is almost certainly a box containing the microphone. Pick the box up and put it in the next room.
Perhaps best not to assume the worst, but talk to them about what and why.
I hope this helps, Margaret (and Tony)

No they can’t . She used my WiFi to gain access so they can install the Sensi Monitors.

Sounds illegal to me. I guess you’ve already told them you disapprove? Confront them about it.

Friday afternoon I sent a screen shot to her that shows the “Sensi” was illegally accessed by the Care Manager and showed she was in my network! Once I switch agencies im not saying a thing until then. She knows what she did was illegal . She never text me back after I sent the screenshot . Guilty?

My question, how did they get ur password? Is there an aide that may have given it to them? Do you have a contract with the agency saying to be able to use them you must use their monitoring system?

I would call them and tell them what you have noticed. And ask how they got your WiFi info because u did not authorize the use. So, you would appreciate they stop monitoring your home. You have a legal right to privacy. If they refuse, start looking for another agency and report this one to I guess the FCC. I would change my PW.

No! I gave them no permission and those monitors don’t have cameras but it has audible. I’m not sure how to handle it. I don’t want any drama in my life but I’m sure there’s many clients and family don’t know. That their Wi-Fi’s I was told I she had to install the monitors . I have respite on Wednesdays but the Manager came over and installed this without without me think my caregiver on Wednesdays gave my wi fi to the manager . I have changed my WiFi password. Do I stay at that agency until I can get a caregiver from my alternate agency? then fire them ? Or should I let it go?

Sheri, before you get too upset, read the agency contract that you probably signed at the beginning. It may set out what you agreed to. Then talk to the agency, as my techie DH suggested earlier, to find out what this is all about.

Think about what care you are expecting. This is a bit like night care – is the carer expected to stay awake all night, or just to deliver medication on time plus respond to calls? If you are not expecting ‘companionship’, perhaps it’s fine for the carer to be occupied in another room - and so to need an alarm if things are going wrong. Perhaps the agency also wants to know if the carer is carrying out the contract adequately. Chances are that the last thing they are interested in is your brother’s conversations.

If this is the only thing that is bothering you, get more information before you quit. And if you find a sensible answer, please come back and tell us. We shouldn’t all be jumping to conclusions about dreadful abuses if the answer is perfectly reasonable. Yours, Margaret

I'm confused. How did they access your wifi if no one gave them your password?

I signed nothing . She came over while I was on my Respite, then got my WiFi password from our Caregiver as she used it for surfing the web. So nothing was signed, nothing explained, and done while I was gone. That Sensi is based on heat to predict one’s behaviors. Ir takes snipers of the audio to build my Moms profile, but it also can listen to what we’re talking about when friends or family are here. Looked it up. It’s a misdemeanor or even a felony .
I haven’t heard back from her since I confronted her about tapping into my WiFi with my permission. I hope you get it now. Thank you for your input ❤️
I’ve changed my own, removed all the monitors. After I find another caregiver from my alternate agency then I’ll leave the agency I will send a email to her to confront her about the shadiness going on

Not to make light of the situation if that happened to me I'd be tempted to get even. Like having a phony 'conversation' with your brother about something gossip worthy lol

It was the agencies aide so she probably thought it was OK, but it wasn't. I agree, the agency should have something in writing with ur signature. And you should have been told how exactly it would be used and time to research it.

By the way, if the aide was using her phone, she could have used her own data to surf. I would not give out ur PW again.

first thing to do is change your WIFI password!
And I would tell them to remove any installed software, hardware or equipment.
If they refuse I would inform them that their services are no longer needed. You can get another agency.
