Having trouble with balance and weak legs. I cannot carry anything and walk with a cane.

Find Care & Housing
This is basically someone you would hire?
I would start with apps such as NextDoor.
I would ask in MD office if they have suggestions.
You might also try such apps as care.com and such companies as Visiting Angels. Do understand that the latter often is an agency and you will be paying both the agencies and the caregivers. That adds in cost. But they are more fully vetted. Some of them also have minimums such as three days a week four hours a day. That adds to cost.

Try Medicaid to see if you qualify for services. Also, Office of Aging.

For cleaning a once a month service like Molly Maids or Merry Maids will cost around $60 or $70 for a smaller home.

I agree that if you haven't already done so, to get this checked with your primary care physician.

I also agree that Nextdoor.com is a good place to start to find volunteers to help with your chores.

Care.com for hired aids.

Also you local Area Agency on Aging for resources, as well as social services for your county to see if you qualify for some in-home help.

Sample, our Craigslist has kind of gone down a lot and is almost a "dangerous place" to visit. I hadn't thought of Yelp. And speaking OF that word danger I would just like to add a word of caution to our OP to keep important papers, identification and checkbooks, chargecards etc safely "put away" when people are in the house. This includes and password books and etc.

I'm 87 and have somewhat similar issues--plus back problems. If you or your family/friends/acquaintances know anyone who has a good housecleaner, ask for contact info. I'd avoid Craigslist for safety reasons but that's just me. NextDoor is probably O.K. if there are local references.

Housecleaning agencies cost more than an individual hire, but their employees are usually at least superficially vetted. Still, valuables, Rx meds and sensitive documents should NOT be accessible.
